In 2009, Anderson joined the faculty of the African American Studies department at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She was awarded a fellowship for teaching excellence in 2001. Career Īnderson worked as an associate professor of history at the University of Missouri in Columbia. She was awarded a fellowship to study at Harvard University in 2005, where she worked on her book, Bourgeois Radicals: The NAACP and the Struggle for Colonial Liberation, 1941–1960. She earned a PhD in history from Ohio State University in 1995. Education Īnderson earned bachelor's and master's degrees at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 19, respectively. In 2023, she was elected to the American Philosophical Society. Her research focuses on public policy with regard to race, justice, and equality. It took me a few pages to get into the flow of the story, but once I was absorbed I couldn’t draw myself back out. ![]() This past weekend all I have done is wander around my house with my nose in this book bumping into things. I found myself lost in this book and unable to put it down for even a second. The language is descriptive and rich with imagery and emotion. It is beautifully written and a sheer joy to read. Emmett is learning the trade, helping people to forget their secrets and keep them hidden in a vault below his masters workshop, when one day he happens upon a book with his name on it.
